Precare & Aftercare

It’s important that when you’re deciding to move forward with Scalp Micropigmentation that you are taking into consideration the care that is required before and after.

Here are a few requirements to expect PRIOR to receiving your treatment:

  • Moisturize scalp 2x a day for 14 days

  • Cut your hair with a trimmer the night before (#0) - This does not apply to clients receiving treatment for density

  • No caffeine (Soda, Energy drinks, Coffee, Sports drinks, etc)

  • No blood thinners (Aspirin, Pain killers, etc)

  • No drugs or alcohol

  • Eat a healthy meal and keep hydrated

Here is what you can expect immediately following your procedure:

  • No swimming, excessive sweating, heavy working out, saunas, steam rooms, etc

  • No direct sun exposure

  • No touching

  • No razor shaving


Aftercare Long Term

Long term care for Scalp Micropigmentation is simple and by taking the following recommendations and applying them towards your routine once your scalp is fully healed, you can achieve desirable results for years to come.

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds - Applying a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to the scalp with help with protecting the pigment as UV rays can cause damage to the Scalp Micropigmentation even if you are not one who typically sunburns.

  • Moisturize the scalp daily with a gentle moisturizer such as Cetaphil or HeadLube Matte moisturizer - Avoid moisturizer products with Perfume/ Retinols/ Vitamin A

  • Use an exfoliating cleanser on the scalp weekly

How often do I need a touch up?

Most clients won’t need up a touch up for at least 2-4 years on average. Of course, this is dependent on your lifestyle and how well you care for your SMP treatment.

Can I return to work immediately following my procedure?

Yes. There is no “downtime” required post procedure, but we do recommend you view our post care instructions as some activities will need to be avoided during the early stages of healing.

I suffer from ALOPECIA; will I make a good candidate for the procedure?

Definitely! Our artist will create a custom treatment plan for you that will yield natural results you can feel confident with.

How many sessions are required?

Most people can expect to receive an average of 3-4 sessions

How quickly should I expect to see results?

Results are immediate after the first session with the most desirable results achieved over 3-4 sessions.

Will my hair grow after receiving SMP?

Scalp Micropigmentation does not create hair growth as it is a technique used to mimic the look of hair follicles

I have long hair and experiencing thinning in some areas, will I be required to shave my head?

No. If density is all that needed, shaving your head is not necessary.

Can women have this done too?

Of course! We recommend setting up a consult so our artist can create a treatment plan to meet your needs.

Can I have SMP preformed if I’m on Accutane?

No. Due to the severity of this medication, you must stop use of Accutane and wait at least 12 months before having such procedure performed.
